- Yao Ming News out of Houston is that the hairline fracture in his foot has not healed in two months and may cause him to miss the entire upcoming season. There is even talk that this is a career-ending injury. Man this is terrible news and I do not want to believe it. Yao has worked too hard for it to end like this and especially when he is still in his prime. I hope he consults with the right doctors to get him back on track to proper healing, even if it means he misses the entire 2009-2010 season.

If surgery is needed, Yao will probably misses the entire season. As big a fan as I am of Yao the athlete, I am a bigger fan of Yao the man. If his long term health is at stake, I would prefer for him to retire from basketball.

-Chien Ming-Wang can finally breathe a sigh of relief as he won his first game last night helping the Yanks beat the Mets 4-2. He only pitched for 5-1/3 innings, allowing two runs but it was his best performance this year and hopefully something he can build on confidence-wise. I would hate to see the two top Chinese athletes in American sports both falter due to foot injuries so here's to hoping that Wang can continue to improve to get back to his dominant form of 2006-2007.

-Dice-K continued to struggle and now he finally has had enough. Matsuzaka has put his Japanese honor mentality aside and went straight to the Red Sox asking for help to right his ship and save this poor season. He told Terry Francona that he would do whatever they wished to fix his problems which some claim started when he left spring training for the World Baseball Classic. Like Rafael Nadal who recently pulled out of Wimbledon because of sore knees from a loaded schedule, Dice-K is starting to realize that you can't always have your cake and eat it too.

- Yi Jianlian is staying put with the New Jersey Nets as the lure of the Chinese market is too great to for Nets' owner to pass up. Unfortunately for Yi, the Chinese National team is forcing him to play AGAIN this summer in FIBA World Basketball so he will once again miss the needed rest for next season.

- Yao Ming called a possible move to Cleveland an "unknown" after rumors that the Cavaliers' new Chinese minority owners want to acquire him after he becomes a free agent in the summer of 2010. The big question is if such a move was to happen, would King James still be around to reap the benefits?

-Chien Ming-Wang (0-6) loses again as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Yankees 4-0 at Turner Field. The only positive for Wang was that this was one of the better starts he has had this season, the Yankees' bats were just cold as ice. Wang will continue to hold his spot in the rotation for now.

-Lu Yen-hsun is a little known tennis player from Taiwan. But for one brilliant set, he held his own on center court of Wimbledon and competed well against the greatest tennis champion of the open era in Roger Federer. He would go on to lose in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, and 6-2 but earned the respect of Roger who called him a tough opponent.

Yao Keeps Busy. Cartooning, Not Fishing - While the Lakers are busy putting the smack down on the Magic with their 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals, Yao Ming is taking it easy and enjoying his summer. The Chinese B-ball icon is donating his voice to an animated Chinese fairy tale about fighting evil and injustice to recapture a magic aster, which protects people’s happiness. He needs find a way to fight his own injustice in life, bad foot mojo. Having the talent to lead the Rockets deep into the Playoffs but not have the health and body to do it must make him and his many fans very unhappy. Hopefully his recent injury will be a good excuse for him to avoid the Chinese basketball overlords which want to play for them every damn summer.

This is not Yao's first time voicing a cartoon as he has also worked on a few one liners for the Simpsons show.

Wanger and Dice-K Back, But Not at Full Strength – Both Daisuke Matsuzaka and Chien Ming Wang are back in the rotations for the Yankees and Red Sox, but neither have been very impressive. Wang got his first start since coming back from rehab on Thursday and turned in a weak 4 – 2/3 innings but luckily manager Joe Girardi is committed to sticking with him for a few more games until he regain his form. Dice-K gave up 5 runs on 10 hits in only 5 2/3 innings yesterday in a 6-3 loss to the Ranger. Both pitchers are struggling mightily this year but hopefully they can turn things around very soon.

Too Young to Be Such Damaged Goods? – That is probably what most Kei Nishikori’s fans are thinking. After missing the French Open because of a sore arm, Nishikori announced that he will miss Wimbledon too because of a small stress fracture in his right elbow. This guy was one of the most exciting new prospects last year along with fellow teenager Juan Martin Del Potro, but now unlike his Argentinean rival who is making the semi-finals of slams, Kei is sitting at home wondering if he is the unluckiest guy in professional tennis. At only 19 years of age, he has already had many physical problems in his young career. Despite being so injury prone, Kei clearly has the talent to be the next great Asian player so I’m hoping he fully recovers and makes some noise at the US Open later this year.

2009 has not been a kind year for Kei Nishikori.
